Coldiretti Brescia is a provincial branch of the National Confederation Coldiretti. It operates in one of the most important agricultural regions of Italy, excelling in the production of milk, pork, beef and poultry, which are linked to large areas cultivated with forage crops.
Brescia’s milk (over 1.1 billion kilograms per year) is the basis for the production of many cheeses: from the PDO cheeses Grana Padano, Gorgonzola, Taleggio, Quartirolo and Provolone Valpadana to numerous typical cheeses such as Bagòss, Tombea, Silter, Casolet, La Rosa Camuna, Formaggella della Val Camonica, Formaggella della Val Sabbia, Formaggella della Val Trompia, Formaggella di Tremosine, just to name a few.
Strengths of Brescia’s livestock sector also include beef production (both white and red meat), poultry production (mainly turkeys, broilers and eggs) and pig farming, with over one million pigs per year contributing to the production of Parma Ham and San Daniele Ham. Other areas of excellence are the wine sector, featuring important DOC, DOCG and IGT denominations such as Franciacorta, Lugana, Botticino, Cellatica, Capriano del Colle, Curtefranca, Garda Classico, and Valcamonica, and the olive oil sector, with the prestigious Garda and Laghi Lombardi PDOs. Also noteworthy are the horticultural, fruit-growing, floricultural and other livestock productions (beekeeping, sheep and goat farming, fish farming, rabbit breeding, etc.).
Coldiretti Brescia, with a central headquarters and 11 local offices, is a center for trade union activity, information and training; it operates with qualified staff and technologically advanced tools available to members to promote and support the economic and professional growth of farms and the progress of agriculture in Brescia.
The Provincial President is Laura Facchetti, who belongs to the poultry sector, where 50 years ago her grandmother founded the farm that today has become an integrated supply chain including breeding hens, broiler farms, a hatchery, feed mill, cereal crops, and processing and marketing activities. Since 2017, she has been Head of the Lombardy Poultry District and since 2019 she has been the Coordinator of the Provincial and Regional Poultry Committees of Coldiretti. Since 2022, she has been a member of the Council and Executive Board of Coldiretti Brescia.
The Director is Andrea Repossini, from Lombardy, 59 years old. He has had a long career as a director within Coldiretti; after having led for six years the provincial federation of Sondrio, in 2020 he was appointed to head the structure of the Provincial Federation of Turin, with its 10 local offices and 182 municipal and inter-municipal sections.
Part of the provincial headquarters of Coldiretti Brescia are the Coldiretti Women’s Group, Coldiretti Seniors, Youth Enterprise, Campagna Amica and Terranostra.
